Boiler House Poets Collective

Boiler House Poets Collective 2023

Who we are and how we came to be:

In November, 2015, nine poets met at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, for a workshop-in-residence week, a collaboration between Assets for Artists and Tupelo Press founder Jeffrey Levine. We did a reading in the Boiler House at the museum and the Boiler House Poets Collective was born! Because we bonded so strongly with each other and with The Studios at MASS MoCA, we have returned nearly every year since for a reunion residency. The pandemic cancelled our 2020 residency, but we returned to The Studios in Fall 2021. We have added new members by invitation over the years as “originals” have been unable to return and have now decided to officially identify as a women’s circle.

You can read a March, 2023 interview with some of our members by Devon Ellington on The Rumpus.
